Counseling Hypnotherapy Certification Basic Course Structure
The complete course is divided up into 5 sections. Hypnotherapy 1,2,3,Practicum and Counseling. In this particular course we will be offering Hypnotherapy 1,2,and 3 onsite and the balance of the course by correspondence. If a student has previous training in a particular area that is equivalent to part of our training then he or she can apply for an exemption for the corresponding section.
OVERVIEWThere are two formats available.
Format 1 (non-intensive)
This course takes place onsite as well as offsite. A unique aspect of this course is that it is ongoing. Students attend approximately 3-4 hours per week until they reach a total of 50 hours.They also have the option of continuing to attend sessions after 50 hours at a cost of $15.00/hour. The onsite sessions will have a strong focus on basic and advanced hypnotic techniques, counseling skills and other complementary approaches. There is much focus on the works of Dr. Milton Erickson as well as a strong practical component. Between onsite sessions students will be completing the Counseling course at home. This is achieved by reading "The Skilled Helper" and completing the corresponding assignments during and after the onsite sessions. Students will view video DVD's containing further instruction and actual sessions. The Practicum is the last part of the course. Here the student has an opportunity under indirect supervision to put their skills to the test. During this time the student works with 5 clients completing 5 sessions with each client and videotape 1 session with 1 client as well as other assignments and an open book exam. The onsite portion of this course occurs over 6 days.The onsite sessions will have a strong focus on basic and advanced hypnotic techniques , counseling skills and other complementary approaches. There is a strong focus on the works of Dr. Milton Erickson as well as a strong practical component.Students will be completing Counseling through distance learning. Also during and after the onsite sessions students will view video CD's containing further instruction and actual sessions.
The Practicum is the last part of the course. Here the student has an opportunity under indirect supervision to put their skills to the test. During this time the student works with 5 clients completing 5 sessions with each client and videotaping 1 session with 1 client. They must also complete an open book exam. If the work is satisfactory the student receives a certificate as a Resident Hypnotherapist from the Orca Institute. For a printable detailed course content description please click here.
Who should attend?
The intent of this course is to provide the student with the hypnotherapy and counseling skills necessary to be in private practice or as complement to an existing practice in the health care field.
